You’ll explore a range of tourism destinations, both urban and rural, driven by events, culture, business, or niche tourism products, and the obstacles facing destinations that seek to establish or improve their offer. You’ll take advantage of the robust local tourism sector in Spain to practice through real-world case studies, helping a Spanish destination to build its competitive advantage.
Conferences serve as an excellent platform to connect people and stay updated on the latest industry developments. This module will explore how the conference industry operates across various sectors, including its role in business and event tourism. You’ll examine the roles of organizers, venues, facilities, and activities before, during, and after each event. You’ll explore the impact of technology on the conference experience and discuss issues and trends affecting their organization. You’ll get real-world insights through visits to venues in Santander and nearby Bilbao.
In this year-long module, you will choose a topic or issue and complete a research-focused dissertation. You will be expected to develop a comprehensive understanding of your research topics and to effectively gather and analyse data samples. You will use your analytical and critical thinking abilities to reflect on pertinent research questions, theoretical concepts or hypotheses, existing literature, ethical considerations, research methodologies, and data analysis in an independent and disciplined manner.
